Big and Buggy
Wow, probably one of the longest platformers let alone games on newgrounds. It took a good 45 minutes to beat it and there was a lot of stars I never even got. Anyways...
This game had a lot of bugs and did not run very smoothly. The lag in some of the bigger levels was hard to bare. And the jerking mario on the platforms that moved up and down got annoying. So yeah, theres a lot of falling through ground/platforms happening here, but I accepted the fact that it wasnt perfect and kept playing.
The sound however could have been better. Not a lack of sounds but bad quality. Most of these sounds sounded like it was recorded off the TV into a mic. Which picks up an annoying fuzzy sound. But in a way it made it more oldschool cuz the sounds weren't as good (theres a positive way to look at it :)
However this game wins because of the size of it. I've never seen a flash platformer this big and long before. I mean some levels kept going and going, and just when I thought that was it, there was more. It was great! I couldn't believe how emense some of these levels were. And lets not forget how it stays true to the original, which is awesome. I couldn't believe how well you turned that rainbow level for Mario 64 into 2-D, i was amazed, it brought a tear to my eye.
And then theres the last level... Now this is a last level. You know you have a good game when the last level takes 5 minutes + to beat. And the boss fight was swell, nothing special, but just on par with the rest of the game.
So yeah awesome game you got here. It may not sound the greatest or play very smoothly but it is just so freaking big that I couldn't stop playing. I just needed to see all these enourmous levels!!! I want more!!
Oh yeah and I forgot to mention how clever the little water jet pack thing was. It gave the game a nice twist.
